dilemma. my pullets are now 5-6 weeks old and have been on chick starter. they are also segregated in a pen which they are outgrowing.
1. can I move my chicks into barn with full size birds and feed ALL of them a grower?
2. is there any harm in feeding full size - 1 year old- hens- grower?

Growers feed is fine for adult birds, just ensure there's oyster shell is a separate feeder if you have any laying birds

that is what I was thinking re: oyster shells.

Moving the chicks into the barn with the larger birds might be a problem if there is a significant size difference.

X2, this is a feed program many use at all times.
As to integration, it is entirely possible to integrate safely and successfully. There are some great threads on methods used by various members here inn BYC

This years birds, although only 6 weeks old, are pretty big. I am very happy with these from Mt. Healthy. They can fly up to the perches and my chicken yard is 60x60. I also free range them . I only worry about their ability to get into the barn at nite with the other birds. there is always a learning curve where mommy has to find an move them in the dark. lol

Give it a shot then. I keep bantams so I'm always a little bit nervous when integrating different sized birds.
