Feeding time

Funny chickens, great pictures. Love the last two where they are all lined up.

Rob, I envy you your chicken feeding uniform. It's supposed to be below 0*F tonight.
I'm lucky regarding the weather, I read the posts about zero tempreture and I feel sorry for the chickens. Thanks for your post Lazy gardener it's realy fun to experience feeding time no matter how far away they are they see ond hear me and they come running out of everywere

Thats just half of them, I have 2 flocks one flock I have had from dayold 16 hens and have been laying for almost 3 months they are the ones you see in the pics, they free range everyday from 3 pm until feeding time then they sleep. The second flock 15 hens I rescued from an egg farmer who was culling because they were not laying everyday, one was sick and she didnt make it but the rest are doing good, for me they are laying everyday they miss a day now and then but thats normal.I had them seperated for 2 weeks and now they are mixed Anyway the point i'm getting to is I now have 30 hens getting under my feet at feeding time and I have to watch were i walk because they realy get under my feet. I will post more pics soon.

This is now the mixed flock, I try to seperate them but they all make B line for the first feeder and then they start to drift to the other one.

You can actually see the difference in the colour of the feathers of the 2 flocks

This is my setup, will soon be extending to increce the flock to 50.....another 20 on order for begining of April

What breed of birds are getting in April?

I only have 16 and they trip me up every day...I'd be flat on my face with 30-50 of them underfoot, lol!

Quote: They will also be White Leghorns, I find it difficult to get other breeds here on the Island of Bohol and the ones I have located are very expensive, maybe later I will add some brown egger's. I'm busy building a 50kg feeder so that will eliminate any injuries to the ladies at feeding time.
