I checked on the phoebe nest today. They have newly hatched babies! No mites in the nest so mom and dad must've just been out celebrating and hunting for their new babies.

I hear the parents out back now working to get them all together. I have monitored, Bewick's Wrens, Western Bluebirds and Juniper Titmice at my nest boxes. Bluebirds can be a bit lax with poop clean up, Wrens are a bit better than Bluebirds, the Titmice are extremely meticulous and barely any poop is left in the box after babies fledge. But this is ridiculous, what a mess!! I never saw the mom or dad removing poop from this box...
They're all in Virginia!Phoebes fledged on Thursday. Yesterday porch was swarming with mites. Pyrethrin spray seems to have eliminated them. So far this year there are no swallowtail butterflies.![]()
