Feeding young ducks

Welcome to the Duck Forum!

I started the switch at two weeks, beginning to add a little bit of grower pellets to the starter crumbles and increasing a bit each day till it was all grower pellets and the starter crumbles were used up.

Depends on the feed, the bag of grower should indicate the appropriate aging.. most usually are by 4-5wks. My Pekins were 4wks? or so i used up my starter(which was duck) and then slowly mixed the grower pellet in..

Hello,
Out of not knowing any better, I started feeding my ducks Purena Layena (Unmedicated) crumbles from day one, then at about 2 weeks went to the pellets. I discovered the food is intended for egg laying hens, but have not had any problems with any of my 23 ducks. The one adult that is laying has been giving me almost an egg a day. Now that all my ducks are nearly full grown, I've been mixing whole corn into their feed. They don't like the corn as much as the pellets, but will eventually eat it.

The only issue with corn is that is by itself it doesn't contain enough protein. I give my ducks corn during the winter, when they need just a bit extra fuel.
