When do I take the chicklets off of starter feed? My babies are about 8 weeks old, and I am wondering if they need the "grow" feed now?

They can be fed grower at 6-8 weeks old. I fed the start & grow (purina 18%) made for hatchling to layer age, then switched them to layer feed (16%) at about 20 weeks old.

We did the same thing. We used non medicated though'Dumor' for game birds. This is just a matter of choice and I'm ew too considering I keep startign over,so stick with the pros here, they are very good at informing us city slickers.

Thanks to all. Should I mix the chick starter and grower together a bit at a time, or just suddenly switch? They seem to be doing well, and have access to regular laying pellets and cracked corn from my hens, in addition to grass and bugs.

Do you think I can tell male from female now? Several of them have much larger combs than others. Will that tell me? The ones with the bigger combs are heavier, as well. These are Buff Orpingtons. I mistakenly got straight run, and I am afraid 5/8 are roos.
