feeding

My 6 chickens are about 13 weeks old and I like them to have as much food as they want so I do measure. I take 2-1/2 cups of crumble feed and disk it overnight (I'll be going to fermented soon) then when I come home from work I'll give them a 1/2 cup dry crumble feed. Plus I give them some scraps or greens.

Please excuse my ignorance but what do you mean by disk? What are the benefits of fermented food? and how do I go about that? TIA :)

Sorry that was auto correct on my iPhone it should say "soak" not "disk".
I'm still learning about fermented feed. There are supposed to be a lot of benefits. I started with the simple soaking the feed after someone said that it makes it easier for them to digest the nutrients, it stretches the feed making it more cost effective and less smell.
I can definitely say my coop/run do not smell.

Thanks for the cool info. I will soak some crumble & also incorparate into my frozen treats I give them thru out this heat wave in VA :)
