Feedstore Selling Single Combed Doms? from Privett-Another Encounter

Our local feed store is selling Buff Rocks as Buff Orpingtons. I pointed this out to them and they became very defensive. I told them it didn't matter to me at all and bought five of them but I figured they might want to at least have them advertised correctly. There were a few Orps in with the mix. I figure the hatchery was trying to pull a fast one because the store ordered straight run Orps. I dunno.

im not sure if its the hatchery or the feed store I dont think anyones cares at all,I went into the feed store in town 2 weeks ago they had chicks for 69 cents, but they didnt know what they were or anything about them all they knew was that " they had them untill the 15th"I think they were all roosters and no body wanted to say anything so I went home and put some RIR eggs in the bator, who needs store bought chicks anyway

I have been fighting with are local Big R store for weeks, I really love it when they tell me I am not allowed to pick up the chicks I want to buy they will choose for me, Yea that went over well..Not. They cant even sex golden sex links. I had to by to chicks that had extremly bad broken legs, from some one dropping them just so I could put them down, so they didnt have to suffer, they were just going to leave them in there till they died. Oh the madness.

I just can't take going into a feedstore this time of year when they have chicks...no one knows anything about chickens and they do not care....

I refuse to set foot in any of them til chick days are over!!...... I sometimes sell mine here at home and I make sure they go with a lb. of starter/grower and are in a decent box when they leave my home...plus I talk the persons ear off!!...lol...telling them how to care for them....

I'd actually prefer the feedstore here to have that rule. I've seen kids picking up chicks and ducklings and those poor things get tossed around. Luckily for me, everyone there loves me and I've known them all most of my life so I get special treatment.

Woops, forgot what I was here for! Cyn, I agree with you on the feedstores needing to figure stuff out. My feedstore is pretty great, EXCEPT for the Americana/Aricana/araucana/ameraucana crud. They are very bad with that. Otherwise, they are pretty good. They have birds at home too, so they know what they are doing. The 2nd in command is one of my good friends and her son shows birds, so she knows what is up. The owner raises turkeys, chickens, pigs and goats too, so he's sorta chicken smart. There is one guy there that said the other day, "The only chicken I'll ever own is the one in my freezer." So, I dont plan on going to him for help!

Cyn made a post about a guy at the Flea Market, I believe. He told her his chicks were from England or something, and Cyn tried to knock some sense into his fat skull.
