I was taking the babies outside today and herd a ruckus at the neighbors. All four of my flock have come from the neighbor. They chose us - I guess you could say. This summer, the neighbor's dogs killed his entire flock - except for the one hen that had flown over to us. He replaced the flock. Just two days after I finished building our coop - he bought 6 pullets at the flea market and two of them ended up in our coop. It was one of these pullets that I looked up to see their dogs were chasing it. Somehow, she had gotten out of the run and could not find her way back in. I started yelling at the dogs, but they got her cornered - just as I was reaching the fence. I was able to shake the fence hard enough - and yell loud enough that they let her go. The neighbors were not home. I knew that they would end up getting her if I didn't do something, so I walked over - gained entry - caught the pullet and put her back in the run.

She seemed to keep an eye on me the rest of the day! I was so glad I was there - another 30 seconds and she would have been killed.

I got HORRIBLE neighbors like that, so infuriating. They started off with 5 dogs, then got down to 2, added a pregnancy that produced 10 but 8 died = 4. Then add another 3, minus the one that the pack killed = 6. Then it went down to 2 which they bred to give them 11 pups = 13. Now they have 2 pairs of Pits, 2 English Bulls & 1 Greyhound = 7 They'll be breeding the Pits when old enough. Here's the clincher ... They get the pups/dogs, put them in the backyard, feed them the cheapest dog food & NEVER clean up after them  IRRESPONSIBLE PEOPLE

Thank goodness I don't have that! They had 4 (3 big - 1 little) that attacked their 1st flock. They say the main perpetrator chocked to death on the chicken bones? Now they have 3 - and a new flock. God help both of us if their dogs ever kill any of our animals!
