I'm scared of itty bitty mice. Gimme snakes, spiders, etc, but mice creep me out.

But, if you were given a gerbil, and spent 6 months tending to it, feeding it, loving it, and then found out it is really a mouse, would you freak out and refuse to go near it, and get rid of it or realize that maybe your fear was unfounded?
The thing of it is, these are unreasoning fears. Reason alone is not going to fix it, and besides, the OP is probably not interested in us trying to "fix" her sister. That's not what this thread is about.
I have an unreasoning fear of water. As a small child I fell into a pool and very nearly drowned. I am perfectly rational about it when I am not in the water. I took swimming lessons. I have tried to reason myself out of it. But, as soon as I am in the water, I am not rational anymore, and absolutely panic. You are probably not like that. But I am. Telling me I am wrong or shouldn't be scared or I'm stupid etc. does no good - I still have that fear. Best thing is to accept that not everyone thinks or feels exactly the same, and some of us have fears we have no control over.
Fears can def be unreasonable. I have a terrible toad/frog phobia, haha. I'm just holding off on taking the cockerel to his new home for a week or two. My sister and I would never fight over this. I will of course let him go, I wouldn't put my sister in an uncomfortable situation. The chickens are there for us to have something to do that keeps us close, and makes us happy, if one of us isn't happy then its not fun. I hope that him leaving on a good note of being a good boy, will be a positive thing for her. Altho, I still want to keep him! LOL.
