Thanks for the info. Honestly, I didn't even know there was such a thing as "chicken shows" until I got on this web site looking for information about keeping them healthy over the winter, so showing them never even crossed my mind.
They are decent egg layers. In fact,up until last week (It's 5 degrees above 0 now) we were getting 35 beautiful eggs out of the 5 hens, each week. The rooster might end up a soup though. He's getting a bit bossy. We had hoped to keep him around at least until the spring time so we could let our kids hatch some eggs. I was hoping they might be barred rocks because I had heard how cold-hardy they can be, what great egg layers they are, and what nice personalities they can have. But, those yellow legs are a pretty clear indicator that that is not what I have!
