My female mallard duck has been quite lethargic for the last few days. She stays in her house often even though she usually comes outside and strolls in the garden, and she has less movement than normal and she doesn't seem to be eating much food. Her egg shells are soft. We don't have any male but we have another female. She also hasn't moulted her wing feathers for a year. From what other threads I have seen, I should buy something which would help with vitamins such as Nettex Vit Boost = Seaweed and some activated charcoal to help with any possible toxins. Please help with what I should do or what might be happening.

Hello, there, sorry to hear your duck is having problems, Could you answer a few questions?

How old is she? How long has she been laying? When was the last time she laid? What is her diet, any supplements? Could you post a few pictures, or a video of her? Is she drinking? How do her poops look?

She is around 1 year and a half old. She has been laying for months, even though breeding season is over. She has laid around a week ago, she is quite inconsistent. She does drink however definitely not as much. Her diet is made from duck pellets mostly and vegetables such as tomatoes, cabbage or lettuce, sweetcorn or peas sometimes too. We give her ground up oyster shell and we are going to give her some calcium citrate again too. Will try and send pictures tomorrow as she is in her house right now and it is quite late in the UK currently.

I'm not sure of the weather in the UK, but it may be best to bring her inside and set her in a warm, towel-lined, stressful free area, with feed and water provided. I would try giving her a calcium supplement and try to drip a few drops of a poultry vitamin along her bill. Starting to weigh her on a food scale would not be a bad idea, to check to see how much/ if she's losing weight, to see if supplemental tube feeding will need to be set in place.

As of now, that's all I can suggest, her symptoms are fairly non-specific so it's hard for me to suggest what it might be, without some more information regarding her state of health and past history. The video will help.

Will try and do but she tries to escape when we try to hold her or touch her so for the most part we will just be adding the vitamin boost to the water. Apparently under 'stress' conditions which I would say is now, I should add 5ml to 1L of water.

If you do, add another clean water source, as due to the taste of the vitamin-medicated water she may not drink, or as much.

One last question, what happens if she doesn't drink from the vitamin-medicated water, how else would I give her the vitamins.
