Every once in a while this comes up. I keep checking my Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks by Dave Holderread. Every time he's referring to female ducks as hens. So maybe if I put this in writing on this post I will finally remember that "hen" is actually correct. I wish I had a better memory for these little things!​

This is a great thread! I have some drake questions so I think I'll start one on drakes. Mine makes me crazy just watching him mate all those poor hens. Has anyone ever had a hen hurt by one of their drakes?

Ok then! Thank you for letting me know. I was told that hen is only for chickens a couple different times myself.
