I have 2 ducks (magpie and a runner mix) that are about 6 months old. I am still very confused about what sex they are. I was told both were females when I got them. Somebody is laying eggs in my yard, but I don't know who. Only getting 1 egg, not 2.
The runner mix quacks all the time, very noisy and loud. Makes me think it's a girl, but (s)he keeps climbing on top of the other duck and trying to mate. Looks like she's trying to drown it in the pool. Do females do that? Are there boys that like to quack?
The Magpie duck is very quiet, doesn't quack unless there is a problem. Makes me think it could be a boy but it's on the bottom when they try to mate...?
I can't find drake feathers on either one...do they not always have them?

That would also explain why your girl is mounting everybody--in the absence of a boy, one or more girls will take it on herself to make sure the other girls are (ahem) "serviced." Of course, they'll take care of each other in that way all the time, anyway, regardless of gender, so it's not a sure sign of anything.
