Female ducks playing the dominant role

No curl on the tail yet. I have read that it doesn't come till after the 1st molt. All are approx. 6mos. old. They have been laying eggs for about 2 months now. And the one (he?) has been doing the deed for a couple of months as well.

Mine got their curly feathers 14-17 weeks. One Welsh Harlequin, and 2 Golden Layers.

hmmmmmm. Now I'm really confused. I'm almost sure that I read somewhere on here that they don't get their curly feather till after the first molt. Maybe that does not apply to all breeds.

And like you said rainplace, may be he is too young and he could be shooting 'blanks',

Well, I read they don't lay eggs for 5-6 months, and one Runner started at 17 weeks............so I don't know, these are my first ducks and a LOT of it is confusing to me! Never a dull moment tho, and I wish I had gotten them years ago. I have and have had all kinds of animals, but ducks have to be the most fun things I have ever had!
