hello,
last summer i started investigating the possibility of keeping a pet quail. i tried hatching my own eggs. no success. the incubator was a cheap one, but i couldn't afford a better incubator and started to look for already hatched young quail.
we live in arkansas, and after checking locally went to online sources. all i wanted is one or two. however the person i ordered them from sends minimum of 6 birds. the first 6 arrived dead, shipped by USPS. the second batch i drove 3hrs one way to avoid the birds having to do a lay over at a post office. one was dead. the other 5 grew quickly and were healthy. because i wanted them to be indoors, it became obvious that 5 quail indoors was a bit smelly. i went to BYC to rehome 4 of my birds. the person i eventually gave my quails to, has never paid me for the shipping, as we had agreed to. he has ignored emails, phone messages and a registered snail mail letter.
i am worried sick about my quail because if he can't be responsible with payment how is he treating my quail.
now my one male, who is very tame and sweet, (unless you are a male quail) seems lonely. i was told by a breeder that 2 quail would be better than keeping just one.
so i am asking you all if you have a female cothurnix or button quail for sale.
i am so sad about my quail transactions thus far. even if you see me as someone who can't deal with quail, please consider my male quail. he would like and needs company.
i have many pet birds from finches to a blue & gold macaw. so i am an experienced and responsible with birds.
thank you for reading this
