Fence suggestion

This is a great idea if your run is to big to cover the bottom with hardware clothe. I use oak and pine rounds around the exposed sides of my fencing. Just think dig dug if any of you remember that game.
I drove 2' long pieces of rebar every 6" around the run. I used to have issues with fox digging under but it's been over a year and so far so good. I could see evidence at first that they were still trying but after a few weeks they gave up. I drove them down two feet at a slight angle away from the fence so if something wants to dig under they will have their work cut out for them.

A predator will dig under a log....but 3-4' long log sections work great along the inside of the run wall, to keep the chickens from digging huge holes next to the wall. In some places mine have dug out under the apron that's on the outside of the run wall....tho I think they had some guidance and help from mole tunnels.

I did say rounds. Most of which weigh between 100 and 150#. of course a "log" wouldn't stop a predator from digging and my chickens do like to dig as well but the rocks on the interior of same fencing prohibit that. my chickens live in a coop within a run within a run. The first coop and run is a fortress they are closed in at night. The second run is more like a covered yard. Bordered by 15 planter boxes, a pumphouse, My house and work shed, and 100# pit who loves the chickens dearly. So a few "logs" in the gaps along my fence line between rock structure and dog is acceptable for me. Everyone's yards and property are different and not every way works for every person.

We've always called sections of logs 'rounds'....must be diff in cali?

a log is what I put in my fire place and a round would be a 'round' section of the trunk(or close to it) of a large tree. Varying feet in diameter and height. Something that wouldnt fit in most peoples fire places. Equivalent to the size of a large boulder. Of course sensibly any round of wood that's not split could potentially be viewed as a round. I could see your confusion. And hope I cleared that up for you.

400

This green netting is 4' tall and was enough to deter my hens from venturing into the neighbors property to sit under their favorite manzanita, and 3 of them could reach my roof at the time I put this up.
