Feral Cat Trap As A Fox Trap?

Okay, so I set up the trap again with cat food in the can right at the edge of the trap! Hopefully I'll get a fox, but for some reason I feel excited?? I don't know, I'm being strange now!

I dealt with another one today, I can't tell if it was the same, but it definitely wasn't going to sit around and watch me, to be honest, I was kind of scared! It stompped it's feet a few times, but with my slow movements it only took about 5 minutes to get it out, and when I opened the door, it was gone before the blink of an eye. But, no fox? What are other ways to get foxes, because it seems I only have skunks right now. Should I use the chicken and chicken liver cat food? But what if it gets wasted on another skunk.

Some animals like a fox are too smart to catch in a live trap. They won't step on the wire of a cage, you must cover it with natural looking debris. If it's not very hungry, you still may never catch it. Leg hold traps, even must be carefully covered with a paper cover over the jaws, and dirt is sifted over the entire trap.

You can see just how carefully steel trappers cover their traps. So, getting a fox in a live trap is no easy matter. (not that I use leg hold traps, just I know how they do it)

Be prepared to take a really long ride if you do catch the fox and want to relocate it. You talk about others in your area not having chickens, he will come right back to you and your chickens if you release him in your area. Hate to sound harsh, however, if you don't want him back and don't want to burdon others with the fox, you may have to get rid of him permanently. Good luck
