Feral Cat Trap As A Fox Trap?

Thanks guys. Well, wow, that is really covered up it was rather hard for me to even see it at first glance. I feel like I'd be risking alot to use live bait because I love my birds and if anything were to happen to them under my control.. It wouldn't end very well.. I guess I'm still thinking about humanely dispatching the fox or relocating it.. Trapping isn't as easy as it seems. :barnie:barnie

Not a fox, raccoons, opossum, feral cat are easy by comparison. Sly as a fox, didn't become a old saying for no reason.

Remember, we are all giving options, you still have to do what is best for you and yours. Good luck in making a decision that is the best option for you. There is no right or wrong, it is a personel decision.

Thank you, I guess I should continue to think about this and see my options pros and cons, but, thanks for all the help you guys have given me, I really appreciate it.

The reason it's illegal to move wildlife, is because of the risk of spreading disease.
If you're going to kill it and have no luck with live traps you might consider leg hold traps. I don't like to use them, myself because you can't release non-target animals. I have used them as a teen and only for a very short while. As, it didn't take long for me to see just how cruel they are. But, they are much more effective than box traps. Especially on a smart animal like a fox.

Your best chance to catch a fox in a live trap is to cover the floor with something "I use artificial grass" and cover the trap with grass or straw or something similar, bait the trap with apples, that will catch a rabbit, use the rabbit as a live bait, and to avoid the accidental triggering of the trap put a piece of meet or bone or an apple under the triggering mechanism that will make it less sensitive, when the fox in the trap it is more likely it will go for the bait under the trigger, spray the trap with apple juice that will mask human scent, even with that, foxes are very hard to catch.

A Havaheart 1099 isn't big enough to use a live rabbit for bait.
