Feral chicken badly wounded, what to do?

Is there any possibility of getting her to an avian vet for cleanup? She looks pretty miserable, having dealt with this for days now, from your descrip.. She really needs hydration if she hasn't been drinking. Pain can make one not eat or drink hence the aspirin water......

But clearly she is trying....

She died last night.

I wonder if the warmth I added could have added her dehydration?

Unfortunately, the man who rescued her had limited means for veterinary care, or we would have done that first.

My warmest thanks to all of you. I'll be better prepared for the next injured bird I encounter.

Judging by the looks of her, unfortunately the period of time before she came into your care was pretty crucial for treatment, hydration etc.

I'm so sorry. My heart breaks for what she went through.

[Chicks R Friends NOT Food]

I have seen maggots infest live baby rottweilers (they all had to be put down) they were in their eyes and everything. They most definately WILL eat live tissues. **These were of course not miine- it was on animal planet. A mom had pups but she was tied up and couldn't reach them. A lot of other issiues too, it was sad.**
That chicken looks really gross. Sorry to say. I would've had someone cull her. I hope she does get better though. Keep us updated!
