'Feral' Pheonix Flock

Two hens are still in the postal bin. Until further notice, they are the Shining Twins.

Hen C seems to be ready to brood now, after leaving and filling the nest to probably about 10 Pheonix eggs and a Spanish egg I snuck in there

Nest A is still going strong with both mamas. Today was day 11 so half way there. Haven't seen the eggs since they started due to hens taking turns leaving and not letting up close at all.

Nest C is doing good so far, lost one egg to rot but not sure if it was a Pheonix egg or the Spanish I put in there. We'll know when they hatch if there's a black baby.

Near C is far friendlier and puts up with all sorts of issues, from me getting to fill her water up to a quail hen running in her box and hiding on her tail to try and get away from me.

This will also be her 4th hatching since coming here almost 2 years ago.

Nest C going stong, though I looked in there yesterday and realized I might have put a Sumatra egg with her as well. One egg is the same size but clearly white.

Was able to candle a hand ful of her eggs and will try to do pictures because they are just adorable at this stage.

Nest A ran into some problems so far.
I counted 9 eggs, which is more than they started with. I'm assuming that my dark hen had started laying before she joined the nest, which means that 4 of the eggs are going to be late hatching.

Nest A also broke an egg and my dark hen began to eat it. I'm hoping it wasn't a viable egg. No smell, but I saw nothing in the yolk either. I'm hoping it was one of the later eggs so it's less I have to worry about.

I have a different hen brooding on some *hopefully* dud eggs just in case i need to slip the late eggs under her if the two hens leave them and they're viable.

So apparently yesterday was the due date. 2 hatched last afternoon and 1 hatched this afternoon. 2 normal ones and a light one.

Unfortunately the light one had an accident and probably won't make it. We think he broke his neck getting trapped in the wall of the cage he fell behind. He's alive and can move everything but has no balance and can't walk right.

Also found out that my extra mama has a viable egg under her so this may make complications

Nest A has ended, leaving 3 unopened eggs in the nest. 2 had blood rings and one I wasn't sure on so I put it under the Japanese hen I had for back up since I have no clue how old it is. A grand total of 3-4 chicks from that nest out of about 9 eggs.

Nest C hatched out a yellow baby yesterday at some point. Still on all the other eggs though. Hoping it makes it as I seem to have problems with all yellow chicks from this group.

My accident baby is still alive, but now we're thinking he may have had a stroke. If he doesn't get better though we'll have to put him down. We don't do special needs anymore.

Won't really complain since I seriously don't need more chicks anyways but did get some interesting colors.

We did end up having to put the light baby down. He relapsed and didn't get better again.

Now the white chick is in trouble. We found him on the floor losing his feathers and skin on his neck. We don't know if it was a mouse or a hen that attacked him. Hoping he pulls through though.
