I and trying my first small batch fermented feed for a hen with crop issues. I messed up I think by leaving it outside where it has been 35-50 degrees. It has been three days this afternoon and I don’t notice any fermentation or smell. I assume this is due to the temp. Should I throw it away, or can I just move it into the house where it is warmer to start fermenting

Fermented feed needs to be at the very least 70F. Bring it into your kitchen and add a tablespoon of ACV to it and stir well.This will jump start the yeast. If the mixture is very watery. dump some of the water until you have a mixture about the consistency of thick oatmeal. It will be fermented and ready to feed when it turns a lighter color and is fluffy and light, and it smell much like sourdough.

Thank you for this BTW. I thought I had already replied but I guess I didn’t. This worked great and my hens LOVED it. I’ve never seen them squabble over food so excitedly lol.

I had rain get into my bucket and it made the seed wet and stink. Is that what you're talking about? As I was pouring it out to clean and refill my bucket they were getting at in my business eating it. I didn't think they want it. I was going to compost it.
