FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

I'm not going to lie I didn't search through the 210 pages of posts first.

Fish meal.

What happens when you ferment a feed with fish meal? I have heard it will get stinky but that's about it. Is it still safe to eat?

I just bought a 50lbs bag of feed and didn't realize it has fish meal.
I asked on this forum about fermenting layer feed with animal protein on it and was told that it is alright to do it. Our bag just says "animal protein".

BRILLIANT! Both the pickle jars from the school caf and plastic pitchers. I liked the way yours looked with all that good stuff in it. I used to sprout for my domestic birds; in fact, I still have a sprouter. I never thought of that for the chickens. I used to get Mung beans and all kinds of good stuff. I don't mind cheekiness at all. I have a sense of humor that for some folks, is an acquired taste!

Disclaimer: I'm a bit cheeky this morning, perhaps due to lack of sleep. Please forgive some of my "tongue in cheek responses".

Now that IS funny. I would like a barking roo. I have neighbors that would not be able to figure that one out. Nosy things that they are.

I sprung for the 5 dollar dishes at the farm store and have used them for water for 5+ years with no cracks. Now there are more dishes due to the fermented feed. The hens still eat like piggies..... I wonder.... Perhaps I should see what kind of critter the dishes were designed for....... Might need ones for dogs so the hens can have a bark-a-thon all day.
I bet the neighbor would love that.

Why and how do I use butterscotch? What does it do to the food and my chicken

Huh????  Personally, I like it on icecream.  It might give them cavities.

Did I say butterscotch. Lol
I mean buttermilk. I think.

I had read it somewhere for the ff but can't remember why it was good for them.

LOL I was waiting for the inside "scoop" on this, magical new use for butterscotch hahaha :D

I believe it would be an excellent kick starter, Buttermilk, with all the lactobacillus in it. It's already fermenting ;)
