One thing about garlic to remember....feed in moderation. I wouldn't make garlic a daily intake for the chickens unless it's in little amounts..don't go hog wild with it. Regular intake of garlic can lead to some pretty thin blood that doesn't clot easily. So, say your chickens are already bleeding from the butt like so many are doing on BYC~in the form of coccidiosis~and you start feeding garlic as a cure for it, it just may backfire. Maybe not, but maybe so. Can't say for sure.
I know this personally because garlic is in regular use here and I bleed like crazy any time I'm wounded..even a tiny wound... and it takes forever to clot. Same goes for my mother. Garlic has been used as a natural blood thinner down through the ages and it hasn't changed.
Thank you @lazy gardener , but I actually just found out!![]()
That BTE garden is going to be timed perfectly lol, I'll be due at harvest![]()
Thanks @Beekissed for reminding us not to overdo the garlic as well... I give mine theirs about every 2 weeks lately, it seems that winter is making it harder on their digestion, and I'm thinking it's because their supply of fresh legumes aren't there to help the probiotics, so I had to try what helped me, because they actually taught me about fixing my own problem through the fermenting.
Or I should say you did, bee![]()
I picked your brain back in the canning thread and you reminded me about how my folks used to ferment to store food, then I ran across a fermenting thread on a permaculture site, and it led me right back to here![]()
15 years of IBS, Chrohns, allergies to everything I ate, couldn't get my weight over 115.. 3 months of fermenting everything in sight and not only do I now save a bunch on my feed bill, but my digestive issues are GONE, and I'm healthy enough to actually be pregnant!
God works in mysterious ways, thanks bee![]()
