Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Pullet eggs are good for making pickled eggs.....
I guess so, but since i live alone and I'm not especially fond of pickled eggs...

I will sometimes give eggs to unfortunate people but I never sell pullet eggs as it would set a bad precedent.  I boil the smaller eggs and...you guessed it. Back into the flock.  Better business to feed 'em back rather than lower the price, only to jack it back up again.   People like consistency.

I can see that but I've just been dealing with family and one little older lady in town.

Good looking dogs, though I am not familiar with the breed. I bet they are smart....
They are smart...too smart for their own good. Not as big as they appear but large for the breed...each weighs just under 20 pounds.

These are the dogs that have access to the property at night when the bird houses are locked down. If given the chance, they would start killing chickens and not stop 'til the last one stopped breathing...but they do their job!

I am not overly fond of pickled eggs either, really not much of an anything pickled fan. But I find if they are made w/ a good vinegar like a good balsamic or red wine vinegar I like them better (pickled eggs)

Nice looking! I have seen these dogs before and thought they were a mix breed. I have always been intrigued by them.

Lisa :)
There are a few Patterdale breeders in Texas!

QUESTiON: Breeders/owners. Do any of you 'eliminate' cocks/cockerels that show human aggression? I do not. I don't encourage it but I don't dispatch a bird for it.

Case in point...In this batch of new birds, I have two 'special' cockerels...Both are excellent examples of the breed (Turken) in my opinion, for my purposes and for those who like color, they are both very attractively adorned.

One is a pussy cat and virtually a pet, the other is very dominant in every way EXCEPT, he's not aggressive to other cockerels that stay out of his way and he is acting very mature for his age of 6+ months. He also challenges me at every opportunity. This is not a problem for me because I simply ignore him, let him do his job and go on about my business and allow him to do his. He is the kind of bird I want to keep an eye on the gals...If all goes well, he will end up in a cock station.

Opinions Please.

I start mine as soon as they arrive. If they're unsure about eating it at 1st ill sprinkle a tad bit of dry food on top of the FF and they dig right in :)
Last batch of chicks I had 3 that tried to snub the FF so I fed those 3 dry slowly mixing in FF. In a week's time their hatchmates had already started to feather in and had great solid less smelly poops! But the 3 that snubbed it, had squirts still and barely a pin feather :/
I Frickin love what FF does for the birds. STILL on my 1st 50lb bag if feed and normally I'd be through my 2nd bag :) so I love it saving me money too! Lol
I just saw some pics of little chicks eating FF and I realized that I have been starting mine out WAY late (not that I had my chicks since they were tiny but still...4 & 5 weeks would have been PLENTY old enough). Well, when I start to hatch my own I will be able to start them out right :th
