Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

This website does seem to be a little more tempermental than usual lately. I already tried once to say to you... I'm glad you're home safe and sound and I hope you and your mom had a great time and made a BUNCH of wonderful memories.

The top rooster was at the Nassau zoo. The other 2 were on an island we stopped at. They were wild and apparently know when its lunch time for the cruise people since they started gathering around. Apparently they help eat the leftover food when people leave :) boy that Roo was noisy......but he was answering another nearby. I never saw the other one but he must be the top Roo since one of his crows sent this guy running

My sister lives in Hawaii and catches wild chickens at local outdoor rest stops and brings 'em home for dinner and eggs! XD She knows just when they'll come around... They don't belong to anybody so now they belong to her!

It's amazing to me that there are places where chickens can live wild and predators (dogs mainly) not kill them all.

Just look at that water....heavenly. O, if we could all scrape together some pesos and go on a chicken cruise together....how much fun would that be if all us ladies were to hit the Lido Deck and talk about chickens til the sun goes down while sipping fruity cold things?

Those feral chooks sure look healthy! Couldn't you have snatched a few and stashed them in your luggage to bring home? Of course, they would hit that snow and immediately shrivel into a ball and die from the cold like tropical flowers....

Lacy - Yeah... Me too! I got a call from her in the middle of the night saying she had a chicken in the car and asking me how to tell if these feral chickens were boys or girls. Like just feathered out half-wild mutt chickens mind. Apparently they'd only just gone from "peeps to clucks" but no standing-out boys or girls yet. She was also under the impression that hens have two holes on their bottom (one for eggs and one for excrement... Cause, ya know, girls have more holes than guys in any other animal, right?) and roosters had one. And that roosters fertilize the eggs after they were layed too.... Oh man. My sister can be a real dork sometimes. At least I managed to set her straight on those silly thoughts! Couldn't even begin to tell her if her chickens were boys or girls... And she couldn't even send photos. :p I said give it a couple months, told her the basics of chicken butchering (in case it was a boy) and sent her on her way... She may or may not be eyeing those birds up as her Christmas dinners right now!
