Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Whipped cream is always available, in those handy spray cans

We never buy whipped topping unless it's the holidays and we are having pumpkin pie or some such. Just never think about buying it. I'll have to look into the spray can so it won't mold in the fridge before we can use it.

Whew! It sure is cold out! We are at -10 with a windchill of -35. I had a nice warm cup of tea, rather than coffee.

My garage is very drafty for a garage, though much LESS drafty than a coop or something. It is also very dry. It is above 0 in the garage but still VERY cold. The rabbits with litters have boxes for them and their kits to hide in and stay warm! I will be taking out some more hay to all the animals including the meaties just in case... It will be just as cold tomorrow. Brr!

Looking forward to getting those meaties in the freezer tomorrow... I will be skinning them, piecing them up, and then I will boil the carcasses into a delicious soup! Mmmm! I make a great chicken soup out of chicken bones... These ones should be especially good tasting!
Hardly have to use a freezer...you could just put them outside for a few minutes... :)

Whipped Cream???!!! Reminds me when I got Dad's birthday present. It was gift-wrapped. It was two water pistols filled with whipped cream (filling those things up was nightmarish!). He had watched a movie with child actors called Bugsy Malone (1976). They had used whipped cream guns instead of the real things. O dear, did we have fun with those guns. Yes, we shot them in the house. Their was whipped cream everywhere!

I had on 3 pair socks this evening and I could STILL feel the cold floor through my socks.

Well, I came into the garage to find two of my chickens roosting on one of my rabbit cages. :p The door seemed to still be closed on the tractor. Not sure how that happened. I tried to close the door tighter. My garage is in a balmy low 20s or maybe even a smidge warmer, but still well below freezing. I stepped out to load the chicken coop with hay for the meaties and let the dogs pee.... I took one step out of the garage with hay and my face immediately hurt in a low wind. BRRR! My heater is working overtime to keep the house in mid to low 60s! The windows in the garage are all so foggy and frosted you cant see out at all. It is going to be -13 all night and we still have a wind chill of -36 when it gusts. Tomorrow it wont be much better. By Wednesday I can move the rabbits all back outside and that night the chickens too probably. Coldest day in a VERY long time around here. Most years our lowest lows are 8ish for about a week and most days are in the low 20s. And to think all this after two feet of lake effect snow and then a 40 degree thaw... Our street has a sheet of ice under the snow with tire treads imprinted in it. Kind of crazy.

I know what you mean Rose, it hurts when you're not use to it. I don't want to get use to it! LOL You take care of yourself and don't get sicker. I usually go barefoot but I have socks on these days and they feel pretty dang good.
