I try to do that but at my night feeding, it seems like I'm giving them so little that they'll end up going to roost still hungry! I keep reducing and most nights I don't have much left over.

I have it under control finally.

Also thought I lost my turkeys this morning (thought that last night) they had roosted in my neighbours yard. What doofs.

I guess our tom was in the road and had a line of traffic pulled over taking pictures. They thought he was some exotic bird.

Omg! They LOVED it! I've never seen my babies stand up to the hens before, but those babies fluffed up and told the hens to take a hike!

Cleaned the bowl and then clucked around fat and happy.

When I went to put them to bed, they followed me right into the coop because they must have sensed that I had more wet deliciousness for them

So thrilled with the results already! This stuff is awesome!

So glad they enjoyed it! I have not seen a chicken who didn't. We recently was given a white crested black polish rooster, and he was not a big eater said my friend.. He just randomly picked a few pieces here and there.. Well not with the FF. He ploughs through it! Very happy about it

Cheap alternative to getting more out of your feed bill, isn't it? Wait until you see the gloss and huge egg yolks and smell the sweet coop...you'll be doing hand springs!

That last part is not as noticeable for my older birds, but it sure is for my chicks! Maybe it's the way I'm fermenting for them. I'm definitely going to employ the bucket method ASAP.

I do notice a difference, but not as much as I'd hoped. Probably doesn't help that the darn waterfowl are spilling water in the coop. If it was summer it would be an easy fix. I can't put the water outside as it's heated. Ideally I should separate the two and give them a deep heated bucket. So many things to do, so little time

I'm not great at prioritizing.

I gave it a whirl, I have the good UP/ACV with Mother (been using it in their water since I found the info on the OT thread a week after getting chicks), have the buckets, some already with holes in them from starting tomato plants... I think the FF smells really nice, turned out just as you described Bee! and I had read that my older birds (8 months) might turn their beaks initially... well... you'd think I brought out a Sunday roast with all the trimmings! every single one of them dove right in and devoured all that I dished up.
I can see that I will easily cut my feed consumption by 1/3-1/2, which is excellent as I just received 15 chicks and doubled my flock size... nice to know that my feed costs will stay roughly the same. the chicks are on starter crumbles I began fermenting yesterday for their arrival today.

I still have a few hundred pages of this thread to catch up on... thanks Bee, you do us all a great service!
