Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Ok I stumbled upon this thread 3 weeks ago and it's close to three weeks now feeding my hens fermented feed

They LOVE it, absolutely love it

like "get out of my way" love it.

We already make our own Kefir and Kombucha so this was a wonderful addition to the extra live stuff our hens already consume.

There was no "what the heck is that" moment with them at all.

And best of all. . . . fermented feed everyday means NO chicken poop smell at all

In our family everyone (human) is expected to partake in Kefir on occasion so that our bathrooms always smell like roses.

TMI? That's added there for you fence sitters

Probiotics and enzymes all the way baby!

Thank you Beekissed ! ! ! ! ! !

I was wondering about that! I know my toots don't smell(mother vinegar in my salads every day) but my boys' and most everyone elses I know are just horrid but I never really put two and two together until feeding this FF.

Should have started out my boys on mother vinegar in their baby bottles....

For those who have bottle lambs and calves coming on this spring, think about that and try it. Some have and have found their bottle babies are much more healthy, put on weight quicker and thrive better.

So I put some plain food in the feed bowl in the coop. The chickens usually eat all of it as soon as I put it on the floor.

I just went to check on them expecting to find an empty bowl and its still full!!!

They got a bowl of the ff to lure them into the coop and I put some regular feed out for them after they were all in, and they aren't interested!!

This ff is a miracle food! I'm so excited to save money on feed :) I figure, the less I pay for feed, the more I have to spend on mealworms!! Lucky chickens!

There are times when someone in the house might, shall we say, revert. . . . It's then that I mention, while in their presence, that I have just finished a wonderful batch of Kefir and would they'd like their glass now or later. Not everyone drinks it on purpose

When we first started making kefir it took each of us about 2 days to realize something had changed.

Bee, you would need to come to my house before one might suggest I have an oversensitive nose

Folks have been known to jump up and run out of the room when things happen around here.

Car windows open. . . .

I spit out my water with that . . . wall thing

3 boys in this household with a boat load of friends, most who appear never to have been trained in using toilets properly in other's homes.

I have/had three boys to raise too...I know of which you speak. And it became a game to offend mom's sensitive nostrils. Walk up, hug Mom, fart. Bend over to ask Mom a question, fart. Call Mom into a room to ask her a question and the room is filled with a brown haze of at least a million farts.

To guys, this is love.

Yeah, I know about boys.... also had three brothers.
