Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Well isn't she cute! Very well laced too. I don't know if "Lacing like this" is indicative of a female or not. I never noticed that they had different lacing styles or whatever one might want to call it. If they do, well, I guess I need to pay better attention as they are small and growing and make some notes as to what I think and what they turn out to be. She is very nice!

Well I'm not saying they are or not, just that all three of the blues I hatched all have the same look, and all are female if comb is any indication. I have one or two boys. One has a wide comb, and one has a red comb. Black and Splash for the two boys.

Thanks :) I just thought the lacing would/could look different young, as it does when they are older.

Here's daddy to describe what I mean by different lacing.

One of the older blue pullets. But I like the lacing better on the new one. :)

Your male is fine he's just too dark.

Your female is nice too, and she's is a wee bit on the lighter side.
The combination, balanced them somewhat and gave you that cute little girl you showed earlier. Even though she is a little bit dark... it's a very fine line to try to follow. If you try breeding that really dark male with the dark splash in this bottom photo, you should get some more chicks that might not be quite as dark as your earlier girl but darker than this girl. When I talk about them being "dark" I'm referring to the ground color.

oops, I missed that she was a pullet, so not the mother of the other one? Still, she is very cute and the information provided would be the same.
I am not sure who the mother is. They all lay very similar eggs. Could be from the Splash, the Blue or one of my two blacks.

I do agree, she seems to be a nice balance. Hope I can get a lighter blue boy.

Really nice birds, and excellent information from Lacy Blues! Do both of you feed FF from hatch? Are you seeing faster feathering if so?

Thanks :)

These were the first chicks I ever started out at hatch. I started feeding FF in October, and these were the first hatched after we started. They were feathered out at 4 weeks old. I thought that was amazing!
