Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Okay, your idea will take flight! I have an old feather pillow to sacrifice, a heating pad and some chicken wire. Bee, I will get back to you with the finished product. I had visualized the same thing but hadn't thought of putting the heating pad in with the wire and feathers only under them. Then thought it would be too hot, but of course it can be covered. : )

It could sort of be a fleece chicken heating pad cover!

With feathers inside too. Add a ticking clock and a noise maker that makes that chuckling noise to the chicks and we have a chicky mama!

I'm sorry to hear that, Bee. The robust, healthy lifestyle you lead made me feel you'd be around a lot longer than me. I will miss your sage advice and incredible store of knowledge and I know everyone else will too. So your "Sageness" please don't be in too big of a hurry to leave us all, whether you are ready or not! : (

No worries! I'll suck every single second of every single day until I wring the life out of it all.

Sometimes things just happen for no reason and this is one of those. I've never smoked, didn't drink, ate pretty darn healthy, stayed active, breathed fresh air and drank the best of waters...but sometimes it happens anyway. It's just a natural part of a natural life and it happens to us all sooner or later. The key is to live like it could happen at any moment so you don't have to worry about regrets. It's truly a blessing to even be here!

Do me a favor and google Joel Fuhrman. Check out what he has to say, seriously. Do you have access to a library?

I'm not interesting in extending my natural life or staving off the inevitable, Beverly.

I have no fears of that next step and can't wait to get to that next place. Truly. I'm not like most folks you'll meet...death holds no fear for me and I live life to the fullest every day, so I have nothing left undone here. I know that's not the normal thing you'll hear and many won't understand it, but I've never really lived like other people and never really cared about what others think about me being different. And in this matter I will be different as well.

But, thanks for wanting to help!

Well I'm gonna be selfish and pray that God leaves you here many more years. ...don't get mad at me if he does. :)

Question: up until this morning I was receiving 4-6 eggs per day from 13 - 6 month old girls. Today is the first real cold snap we had... The temperature is about 25 F here at the moment with a windchill that makes it feel like 12 F. Today I did not get one egg... Would this sudden cold snap attribute to that ?
