Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

I don't know. He's only 29 weeks old. He will be 7 months old on Christmas Day. He gained 3/4lb in the past 4 weeks. Is that a decent amount?

I am so blessed to have my hubby who does the watering, and I do the feeding.

Hey Bee, My capon weighs 9 pounds now.....

Oh yeah, count that as a huge blessing. I'm running out of pockets and room to carry stuff like my hatchet to break the water. lol

That capon will be yummy - a lot of yummy! lol

I think they shoot for that sweet spot where the feed conversion ratio plateaus, at least from a commercial standpoint, to maximize profit, which I think is 8-10 months. From a practical small flock perspective, it just depends on what size you want and what breed the capon is. Some breeds can end up the size of a small turkey, but I would think that would be something like a Brahma or Giant, which would require a very long grow out, since they get their bone growth during the first year, and flesh in the second year.

I am really just curious about how he grows out over a longer period of time.

I had thought I might wait and have him for Easter.

Ought to be big as a turkey by then!
