I think mine is doing that. I think initially it was the orange bucket, because they see things very differently than humans do. He came after the bucket once, and after me once. That is when he got whacked with my feed scoop, and he has done nothing since, but I carry my scoop when I go in to feed or check for eggs and I changed the color of the feed bucket.. He gives me a very wide berth now.Ahh dang it, my post just got lost in BYC Lala Land! What I said was...
Bee, I bet that is the problem, he thinks he has to guard everything in the coop - makes perfect sense. Other than jumping on me from time to time he is the perfect roo. He is never pushy with me, he stands back and gives me plenty of room even at the feeder. He stands back and waits while the pullets dive in head first. That is why it is always such a surprise when he jumps on me, it is like he come out of nowhere. LOL just maybe he's worth keeping after all. Thanks!
Bee, the Chicken Whisperer. hehe
I have red feed and water buckets and no aggression towards them. One rooster tried to attack my brown egg basket once....once. I always have red or blue feed buckets but usually red because it's just one of my accent colors that I love. I've heard of bulls and such being agitated over red buckets but I must confess that none of my animals ever give them a second's pause.
Still tasty, though. My chickens don't like em.
