Hi Bee,

His wattles appear fine but his comb is in rough ole shape. I walked the castor oil to him yesterday after chasing him down. He was none to impressed with me about holding him and slathering his comb full of castor oil either. I'm not sure what will become of it but he definitely got a good frostbite, that's for sure. Even though it looks nasty, he was happily going about his chicken business today, enjoying the lovely sunshine and wonderful temperatures we had here today ... Just like a gorgeous spring day it was.

Let's hope this helps restore a little circulation to those tissues. I'll be anxious to see what happens with him, so please keep us posted?

I didn't realize how hard it is to see his comb in that pic, but it gives you an idea. Yes, I will for sure keep ya'll posted on how it goes. Do you think the one dose of CO is enough ?

I used that stuff on my own flock's legs for scale mites and it was still in evidence a few months later when I examined them...could still feel the suppleness of the oil on their scales. In the case of your roo, the more you massage that area, the more circulation is going to be encouraged, so it wouldn't hurt at all to repeat the CO when you massage his comb if for nothing more than to give you some glide when you massage.

I can't wait to sweat in some 90-100'F degree weather and try to suck in and breath some 75-100% humid air. LOL

Yes! I'll take this cold any day over hot and humid. Fat girl can take cold better than most...my whole metabolism is geared towards cold weather climates, I burn fuel at a very low rate and can maintain good conditioning on little feed, so I'm imminently suited to cold mountain climates. I carry enough insulation that I can go out in cold temps in shirt sleeves while others are bundled up and whining.

When it's hot and humid I melt like a snow cone in Phoenix and just can't dredge up the will to move and breathe.

You might as well, I'll be whining then too! LOL Where is the weather perfect- 70-85'F, about 40% humidity, sun shining, a light breeze. Ahhh I need one of those drinks with an umbrella. lol

I've been told that the weather in San Diego, CA is PERFECT!!! Never been there though.
