Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Quote: After hearing that I might get a duck! I had one as a child. It thought it owned my collie and slept on her back and followed her everywhere. I've been dealing with a mess of sick chickens, but have them all back on track now, except for one that doesn't seem to have had the same thing the others had. She has a swollen stomach or the area between legs and vent. If she were egg bound I think she would have died by now. The swelling has gone down considerably in the past three days that I have been tube feeding her. She won't eat. Looks interestingly at things I put in front of her and even seems to smell them but does not eat. Any ideas?? : (

God bless Fat Cochin.

Ya know Bee, there will be animals in heaven. I wonder if it will be any we knew in this life. I kinda hope so. I've had some great dogs as well as other critters.

TW, I'm counting on it! I prayed over Fat Cochin before I cut his throat, prayed that there would be no pain and that the Lord would receive him back from me and thanked the Lord for the time He allowed me to have and know this fine bird.

I think all my good animals will be there and none of the bad ones. I think when I walk up to my place that the Lord has prepared for me that Jimmy, Lucy and Jake will come bounding off the porch to meet me and my cats will stand up and arch their backs on the railing so I'll pet them when I go by. I think my sheep, cows and horse will be grazing in the meadow and come running to greet me as well. Chickens too, just like they always have here on Earth.

I think Heaven will be so incredibly fantastic that our Earthly, present minds cannot fathom it, but I do believe we will know some of the animals we see there, just as we will know the people who have passed before us and have gone there.

I have got some athletic CX chicks! Pretty much every day I catch somebody climbing this 8 ft ladder then jumping/flying off. I'm always afraid they are going to try to jump over in the roo pen and get tangled up in the deer netting. LOL

Now, THAT is an athletic meaty! I just wish folks who think these birds are lazy, dirty and stinky would pay attention to such stories and pics of these and ask themselves why their birds aren't doing these things?

Wow...I have no idea. I wish I could help you on that one. My friend had one just like that and it was just big tumors inside of her. I'd say yours is only alive because you are tubing her but would probably get more and more malnourished and die if you did not.

@Bee... I believe and hope for the same thing when we get to heaven. I look forward to seeing some of my old pooches and cats and other critters. :) It is going to be wonderful!!! :)

These chicks are crazy athletic! They are in a 4 foot tall chainlink dogpen and they try so hard to fly up on it and almost do! Today one went up about 4 rungs on that ladder and tried to fly over to the top of their pen. It flew about 8 feet but came up short. LOL

One of the plots of an episode of the original Twilight Zone had an old man and his hound dog walking along a country path. They came upon a man at a big fancy gate who claimed to be Saint Peter and tried to get the old man to go in to what he called "Heaven" The gatekeeper refused entrance for the hound dog, however, so the old man decided that if he was dead, he didn't want to spend eternity without his faithful old pal, so he refused to pass through the gate and went walking on down the road. A mile or so later he came upon another man, who was guarding a very simple gate. Yep. That was the real Saint Peter. Who said not only was the dog welcome, but he really didn't want anyone who would leave their dog outside the gates.

Loved that episode. :)

Margaret, I thought of you today when I read that they are making Star Wars VII and bring back the original cast. Hans, Leia, Luke. 35 yrs later. Waiting for it.
