No you didn't miss it, I didn't post a pic on this thread, but have on several others. Rudy is a he. I named him after the Rudy in that football movie who overcame incredible odds, b/c this little guy overcame so much. Rudy does have a naked neck. First off I didn't even know I had the genetic possibility in my flock. I knew I had a male carrier, but he was not lead roo, and had no clue I had a female carrier. And you need both to be carriers to get a Rudy. At his hatch the eggs shrink wrapped for the whole batch and I had to assist the hatch, when I opened Rudy's egg, he wasn't quite finished "cooking" but had shrink wrapped too. He had a huge abd. hernia and was weak his legs to weak to support him and his feet curled. I didn't think he would survive the hernia. But left him and a few others that has extremely hard hatches in the "icu" incubator, instead of the brooder. When he lived through the day I descided to go ahead and do what I could and bandaged the hernia (lubed in w/ antibiotic ointment, made tape shoes, and a bandage hobble, he needed an extra day or two in the incubator then needed special care for eating and drinking and reintroduction to his hatchmates, but he has not only survived but thrived. So w/ that intro here is Rudy the survivor.
Rudy is not gmo in any way, he has a double set of the Sc gene, first found naturally occurring in a flock of New Hampshires in CA in the 1950's. He is scaleless and has no scales or feather follicles, never can grow feathers at all. The Sc gene has nothing to do w/ the NaNa gene set (naked neck) and can occur in any breed of chicken. Rudy like most of my flock also has firbro genes, making him dark skinned / fleshed
