Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Sorry just noticed location I was going to try and help you find it but I can't call outside of USA and all the mills I found in BC only give their phone number but then it is the same in my area.
Thanks anyway. You got me thinking about it again. My local guys don't sell it (I'm sure they have it) but I'll try sourcing from further away.

I'm thinking I'd ferment the whole grains like your bucket #1 and add the poultry base in bucket #2. One step closer to mixing my own feed - I like to know whats in it.

I probably missed this when it was asked before but what about during winter? I am thinking the ff is going to freeze when I sit it out in the morning for the flock, it will be like suet probably does ya'lls birds still eat it okay? I have a heated dog bowl that I can use has anyone used one of those? or is it necessary. Thanks.

Do you feed yogurt? I like to use Mountain High brand of plain, unsweetened yogurt. It's nice and thick and is easy to serve, no need to stir. It has something like 5 different beneficial bacterias in it. Greek yogurt does too, but its pricey! I think if I had done all that without results, I might make a douche with yogurt and treat a few times every day until the bird is better. Feed it as well.
I feed yogurt and have been feeding ff for a couple weeks now, The only really good quality yogurt we can get here besides the Greek is Stonyfield which is what I buy.

This makes good sense to me. Just one question. What is ACV? I think I need a dictionary for the acronyms used on this thread. Perhaps I'm just a bit slow in picking things up!! Ha!

apple cider vinegar, not referring to the pasturized you get in the gallon at wally world, it need mother and be not be pasturized, it will say both on the label.

I have a question about my new two bucket system.
I have each bucket full enough to feed the birds for three to four days, during those days the second bucket is fermenting. This means each bucket goes for 5-7 before it's emptied. Is that ok? Not too long? Should I feed it a little on the fourth day, just to give it something new to eat? I'm still working on my system, not sure how long I'll stick with the two buckets, I just can't seem to get one to cook well, while being used.

I am using 2 buckets also and it takes about 5-7 days too, haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary with mine still looks and smells fine.

I am about to drill some holes in the bottom of the bucket that will hold the feed and fit into bucket #2 . I am unclear about the right size of holes. My feed will be at least half mash and half grains. Don't want them too big for too much of the mixture to get through or too small to cause the draining time to take too long. Thanks.
(Will be using the pointy panel drill bit.)

I'll be doing Bee's backslop method.

You know, anytime I smelled it I thought it was fine, but how can something stay "good" after sitting for a week? Lol. the chickens eat it up, so i figure it's ok. Takes me a while to get used to something new, and I research a bit more then I should. Usually end up reading a book or three before I start a new project.
