Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Just for the record you can not feed sweet 16 to sheep. I just found that out when I looked it up for you. Does anyone know why? Or whats different about sheep from the other animals.

Sorry if this is a lame question.

I want to do a 5 gallon bucket with screen on the bottom to help drainage. I read that you use glue sticks to hold the screen down but I don't have any. Is waterproof silicon glue an appropriate substitute?

The label is too small for me to read and can't seem to find anything about safety issues around feed.

Thanks

I have always raised my extra duel purpose roos for meat and the birds you raise at home always taste better than the ones in the grocery stores. There are just no comparison. I hope the FF improves the taste even more.

I've had other home raised chicken but it didn't taste ANYTHING like this Delaware raised on ff.

I think it's too high of a protein level, hard on their kidneys maybe? This is very vague memory from raising sheep like 20yrs ago. I know we never fed them the same feed as the horses. Actually 16% is pretty high for horses too unless they're in very heavy work, pregnant or nursing a foal. 10-12% is plenty for most horses. I know nothing of cows & pigs!

Had to look at this again. Never new rabbits could not have corn. The wild rabbits here eat it right out of the field. I also put field corn on the cob in with mine to keep them occupied. I feed them sweet 16 once or twice a week and it has corn. My niece feeds an all grain feed to her lionhead and it has corn in it.
On the rabbit thread, a breeder just lost a humpteendozen or maybe it was a gazillion of his meat rabbits, because of bloat he and the other rabbit people say is being caused by the increasing amount of corn Purina and other feed companies are putting into rabbit feeds! I do not see any signs if corn in the rabbit feed I am using now, but I lost 2 breeding does overnight, due to bloat, while using Purina!

I think I read somewhere that Beekissed was using FF for rabbits, but I might be wrong. I was wrong once before, when I was younger. LOL ! I don't know to feed it with my rabbit cages all having screens in the bottom of their feeders, so it might have been ACV in their water. It probably was ACV in the rabbits water to cause more females to be born and larger litters?

When my brother took some rescue horses that were in very poor health, he built them up on a 16% protein horse feed with molasses, as I remember !

Check to see if there is copper added to the Sweet 16, sheep cannot eat any feeds or mineral supplements with copper in them.
