Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

If it doesn't smell bad then it should be ok to feed. What do you have in it?

I have managed to save a batch that I feared was spoiled by adding quite a bit of ACV to it and stirring in some more feed. Sitting for two days shouldn't spoil it, have you been feeding it?

I have some milo fermenting that I had to move to the front porch. What a stench! I think that is just the nature of milo. Smelled like a bucket full of vomit! Uh! The chickens love it though. Speaking of which, I need to add some more ACV to that thing.

I've been fermenting their starter crumbles with ACV. I usually just mix enough for them to eat in a day, more as a treat, but went overboard and dumped too much in, then forgot to stir it yesterday. So, it's been sitting for 2 days. I was sick yesterday and didn't feed them any fermented. They have dry food in the coop in an automatic feeder as back up. I planned on moving them to full fermented once I was sure it was something I could keep up with.

Lacy, thank you for the input.

I am brand new to BYC and I've just began rea ding this thread. I know what ACV is-apple cider vinegar- but what is UP? I plan to begin right now fermenting feed for my chickies.

Could someone tell me if this feed looks bad? I made too much and it's been sitting for two days and I've never seen this growth before. (mold?) It smells like sourdough, but much stronger than what I previously had.( It could knock you over ) I don't think it smells like "bad bacteria" but I feel uncomfortable giving it to my pullets unless someone can tell if it looks okay. Thanks.
Looks GOOOOD to me, just like my bucket did this morning, and if it smells ok,

. I started fermenting two 5 gallon buckets and one will sit for 2-4 days fermenting while I feed out of the other one. Backslop and repeat. Sometimes they get stirred everyday, sometimes every other day.

I've been following this with interest and have a couple of basic questions: Do you feed the FF to the chickens wet out of the bucket, or do you dry it? We got some spent grains from a neighbor who brews and we dried them for storage. The chickens love it but we've just been using it as a treat or scratch. Do you feed them the FF exclusively, or still offer other kinds of feed?

Also, I see that folks feed this to their pigs...I'm wondering if it could be fed to rabbits as well.

Seems there was some talk about rabbits not being able to eat corn I believe. So I'd wait till someone who has rabbits comes in, I feed both I am giving 20 chickens and about 8ducks 3cups of ff a day.I'll probably feed more when warm weather starts again in the spring, but I don't sit the ff out till late morning now so it has a chance to warm a bit outside. They have finished 3 cups by late afternoon, The chickens eat most of it the ducks nibble,. I use a strainer and scoop out 3 cups let it drain over the bucket for about 45min. then feed
