Is this egg fertile? (Sorry about the glare. The blastodisk/derm is roughly near 5 o’clock.)

If so, then who is the lucky roo? I have two cockrels, both 10 weeks old. I have seen no hanky-panky in the yard. Is that even possible?

The hen is 18 months, a cute little black bantam cochin. One cockrel is a black silkie, but my money would be on the polish/silkie mix, who is the more dominate cockrel. This is, of course, assuming my 16 week old pullets are, in fact, pullets (I’ve seen nothing to suggest otherwise). Man, those would be some cute little babies.

Did you raise the hens or did you get them already mature?

Our flock is a mix. The egg is from a hen who we got already mature last spring. She’s a broody lady who hatched out a clutch of eggs (purchased) this summer, and the two cockerels are from that group. She hasn’t seen another man in at least six months!

You know what, I have 4 pullets that are 16 weeks. Maybe one of those is a secret roo. They are so docile, two barred rocks and two buckeyes. I’m thinking I should buy and incubator and see what pops out!
