Hello!

I have some fertile eggs arriving tomorrow for a broody Serama hen. This is the first time I've done this and I have a few questions:

When the eggs arrive, how long do I wait before giving hem to her?
Do the eggs have to be placed in a special way under her (i.e. pointy side facing in?)
Once they hatch, other than providing clean food and water, do I need to provide heat or does the hen protect them? (they will be in a private section of a chicken hutch)

Thank you - I hope I do everything right!

Im pretty sure you have to wait at least eight hours with the round end pointed up in a carton if they are eggs that traveled in the post if you are just collecting them from a friend then there is no waiting needed.
Place them under her when its dark outside and just pop them under her she will settle then comfortably herself and take care of turning an so on.
Once they are hatch chick feed and water with pebbles of marbles in the dish so they dont get stuck and drown the hen will take care of the heat herself, unless you live in an extremely cold area im in Ireland where it is pretty mild but always raining and chilly i have never provided heat for my hens and their chicks. Good luck :)
