Last month, on 12 August, i had to cull some of my quail, including the only male. Now i have chicks and one female from the adult flock that i had culled. Now only the single female lays eggs. The males from new flock(chicks) are not young yet. But the eggs of the only laying female still look fertile. I know the difference between fertile and infertile eggs. Her eggs still have small rings in the yolk, which means eggs are fertile. Could this be possible that she is still using the sperms from the male that i culled last month. I know very well that new chicks are not adult enough to mate, they haven't even started crowing. No white foam showing. I am much surprised about my hen still laying fertile eggs.

With chickens its quit common the eggs are still fertile approx 2 weeks after the rooster is gone. But 4 weeks really is a long time.
The male mated with this hen more than any other hen. Maybe she has a huge sperm storage😜😂
