How old does a hen have to be before her eggs become fertile? I thought as long as the roo was doing his job they would be fertile. But someone told me they are usually at least one year before their eggs are fertile. Does anyone know? Please help!

I hope I posted this in the correct place.

Someone was misinformed. My hens who are 8 months old have had fertile eggs from day one. Fertility increases a bit as their laying is regulated, but they can have fertile eggs as soon as the first one pops out if Roo is active with them.

Thank you! My hens are also eight months old, so hopefully one will go broody soon because I really want baby chicks, ASAP.
