Can I assume if I have a roo and 8 hens .......that most eggs laid could be fertile.

If they are all of age then you can assume at least 50% of the eggs are fertile. You rarely get exactly 100% but you never know.

You could crack a few of them open and see what results you get - look for the bullseye of fertility - then make an omelette so as not to waste them

mmmm eggs always great to eat. I do not care if fertile or not. If a rooster is there... its prob fertile

I have 1 roster and 8 hens, their about 5 years old, i decided to start incubating eggs and on day 8 7/15 are actually developing ( i am assuming they are the only fertile eggs) if you have a younger roster and hens they probably mostly are fertile...

I have the same number and assumed they were. Out of six eggs a pullet went broody on, I have six chicks.
