fertile eggs?

I tried this once. I'll try again! How long do eggs stay capable of germinating once laid, without being put under a broody hen or into an incubator?? All I know is to keep them at ambient temperature. ?? : ) THX for any knowledge.

Most folks will tell you a maximum of 10 days. Back before I knew better, I would hold eggs for up to 21 days+ with good viability - only had one incubator and had to disinfect between hatches.

Thanks for your input. I just found out you can still hatch eggs that have been in the frig.! jWho knew? I have rescued my eggs and shall eat no more!
