Fertilized egg?

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if this egg is fertilized? In my flock i have one silkie hen and one silkie roo. I beleive this was my silkies egg as it was smaller and paler than the rest. If it is fertilized than it tells me my silkie is in fact laying and my roo is being a roo. lol

i know she does! she had 2 other siblings but one passed from wrye neck and the other died from a peck on the head from my other chickens none of them are broody, the are turning a year this spring. Is there an age where they become broody? id really like to incubate but i dont know the first thing about incubating and i dont own one :/

Once a pullet matures and starts laying, they can turn broody. Silkies are know to be a very broody breed. Hopefully your sweet girl will want to be a mama soon!

I take my last reply back. i just went to check on them and i was missing my barred rock. Only to find her in a corner with a frozen egg from yesterday and one she just laid today this is my first time witnessing a broody hen! its to cold out to let her brood the eggs freeze but i might try this summer i just have to do my research as i have no idea how to make it so its successfull. i also have a muscovy who i heard are extremely broody and great mothers. we will see!

Woo hoo!
Collect the eggs for a couple of days, don’t wash them, unless filthy and keep them at room temp. Be sure she is really broody... then put the eggs under her and wait 21 days.... lots of time to research and prepare for the little ones and how to successfully integrate them and momma back into the flock.
