Fertilized egg????

I have an egg under my hen and it has been there since sunday i candled it just then and i'm wondering, it has an air pocket, does that mean anything? and should i be seing anything on day 2?

THere is always an air sac at the large end of the egg. I am not sure if day 2 would yield anything visible, however at day three you ought to be able to see veins around a little embryo.
 
I don't candle mine until about 6-7 days after the time it has been set. By then when you candle it(air sac side up), you'll see veins in the egg and a tiny embryo. If you see veins, it's fertile! Try not to candle it too much! I know it's exciting, but best to be left under the mama hen. Her body creates perfect temperature and perfect humidity for that egg!

I don't see the point in trying to hatch an egg or candling it for that matter if you don't have a rooster.
