fertilized eggs

I just bought 1 hen and 1 rooster about 5 months old..when the hen starts laying eggs how many of them will be fertilized eggs?..I just want eggs for eating..how can I tell if they are fertilized or not?

Should be all of them. You will see a small white bulls eye in the yolk.

But soon you will find the feathers on the hens back will start wearing off due to too much attention from the roo. Best get a few more hens for the roo. ( I am an enabler

Welcome to BYC!!! I like the way you start right off with the questions lol, great to hear. It depends on if the roosters learning his job or not...and you will see a small black dot on the yolk. you could also try incubating a few. What kind of chickens?
