most people say that you can hatch fertile eggs that are up to about 10 days old, perhaps even longer. After about 10 days your hatch rate goes way down. A hen can store live sperm in her system for up to about 3 weeks, so even if a rooster goes away, the hen he was with can lay fertilized eggs for up to three weeks.
