Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Life has been very hectic the last couple years. We have had fox problems (lost 6 girls), health issues, unexpected events, and lost income. Life has ben a mess, and everything seems to be falling apart. My chickens, are still doing well, and other than being fenced in now... they are happy birds. I hope everyone is well, and safe. It's been a while but I popped on today because I got an email about raising tame chickens and I thought I'd check in. What a nice thread idea!

I sold my house in May and the three ducks went to the new homeowner - she is young and was so excited to take care of them.

We have been contemplating getting chickens next year. The ducks were fun, but they completely ripped up my yard and my husband was allergic to their eggs! It was kind of a lose-lose in that way.

Do chickens tear up a lawn as badly as ducks do?

My chickens destroyed the back yard in a year. I do not let them out as much now lol!

I got a message to let know what I am up too and since I like this community I try to obey

I'm not doing well at all but the bird-thing still is going great; thanks also to this community. It might for some people feel a bit intense but I can see a tad the funny side of it. I do not have Indian runner ducks anymore because of an abusive partner and chronic illness. But people still see me as the number one genius in my country about Indian runner ducks and that is what kept me going! It is really nice to feel wanted/taken seriously. I had/have people in my life that activaly call me the most vile people in the world (I remind them about their own hurt) and some person messaging me thinking I am some duck-god with sweet questions about their ducks is really <3 I also get more nasty people; I have made some enemy's that hate me having ducks... it's jealousy I can't pin-point: but all the lovely duck-lovers cancel it out.

I'm trying to stay out the heat like my chickens are. Looking forward to cooler weather to do some things outside. My girls chicken coop dropping trays are rusting up and developed holes in them. I need to get some new ones or fine materials to making new ones.

Consider plywood,, and line them with Sweet PDZ, or sand. Have a perimeter edge to keep the granules from spilling. Use a cat litter scoop for the gumdrops.
