My husband is wanting to fertilize our yard. We have one 1 week old and 4 week old back ducklings.

Is it safe to fertilize?

I was just reading that even pesticides that are labeled safe or natural are detrimental to all insects. So unless your using something like Manure as a fertilizer I'd say stay away from it.

My yard gets fertilized by a local company. They did not spray anywhere near my run, garden area, or flower beds.
I forgot to say anything to them before they came out since the chickens were acquired after the fall lawn spray. They must have known better. We live in a rural area and the drift from the farmer's fields are probably more worrisome.
Anyway, it doesn't take long for the granules to dissipate. If you keep your poultry from it for a few weeks, you should be good.

I just know since I try to be as natural as possible I wouldn't use any thing man made. Of course I do understand everyone has that choice to make. Actually we have enough fertilizer here just from the birds.
